Local Culture

Culture abounds in and around the Quechee Lakes community. The area's rich heritage has led the region into a renaissance of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts that have been heavily influenced by the local emphasis on education and conservation. There are several theaters, opera houses, museums, galleries, and libraries offering programming, performances and workshops to the local community. In addition to arts education, there are also many opportunities to learn about history and science in the Quechee Lakes region. You can visit and learn about historical sites and museums, working farms, nature parks, science museums and institutes; go bird watching; and learn to identify animal tracks. The Quechee Lakes Concierge offers planning assistance to keep you informed on these various cultural activities.

Vermont Heritage

Vermont's proud heritage dates back to pre-colonial times. Native American culture is still present in our great state, offering a first-hand look at tribal life, such as at the annual Pow-wow in Hartford.

Vermont has many historically significant government and political sites, such as the Revolution House (where the first abolitionist constitution was written and signed), in addition to: presidential homes, covered bridges, revolutionary and pre-revolutionary battle sites, underwater ship wrecks and many more waiting to be discovered.
